The palette
A block does not care how pretty it looks in the middle of the room. It cares about the mouth that wears the same color. Slide it there and the lane drinks. Miss, and you have just built a wall in front of the only door that mattered.
Before the first nudge
The board is a small apartment with too many suitcases and four front doors. Water only comes home when a suitcase reaches the door of its own color. That sounds simple until the last empty square is the one you needed for turning around.
So pause. Name the pipe that is already almost clear. Name the block that is pretending to be helpful. The clever move is often the one that looks a little slow.
Keep one spare cell if you can. It is the hallway you walk through while everything else is mid-move. Fill it too early and the level becomes a locked closet.
Three beats
Look for a block and a pipe already wearing the same color, with almost nothing between them. That pair is your opening chord.
If the matching pipe is corked by another color, that cork is the real puzzle. Shift it somewhere it can still reach its own pipe later.
When the path is true, the block fills. A level is done only when every water block has had its drink. One dry cell means you are still in the story.
